KC-135 Orientation Flights out of Sioux Falls, South Dakota took ten Minnesota CAP members aloft to assist in refueling F-16's. A second KC-135 full of cadets from joined them in the air. Cadet Fransen was able to enter the refueling pod and watch as the boom operator and F-16 pilot skillfully brought the two aircraft together. Later, Cadet Fransen was able to enter the flight deck to see the aircrew fly the aircraft.
